About Us

Carleton Conservative Association

The Carleton Conservative Association is the official local organization of the Conservative Party of Canada in the federal riding of Carleton. We are a team of volunteers, members, and supporters who share a common goal: building a strong, well-organized conservative movement here at home and electing a Conservative Member of Parliament to represent Carleton in Ottawa.

We exist year-round — not just at election time. Between campaigns, we keep the party active in the community, grow our membership, raise the resources needed to compete, and prepare for the next opportunity to send a strong conservative voice to the House of Commons.

Our Riding

Carleton is one of Ottawa’s largest and most diverse ridings, stretching across the south and southwest of the city. It’s a place where fast-growing suburban neighbourhoods meet long-established rural villages and working farmland.

The riding takes in communities such as Riverside South, parts of Barrhaven, Manotick, Greely, Metcalfe, Osgoode, North Gower, Richmond, Munster, and the surrounding countryside, with the Rideau River winding through much of it. From new families putting down roots in growing subdivisions to farmers, small-business owners, and residents of historic villages, Carleton brings together a wide range of people united by a shared commitment to community, hard work, and common-sense values.

That blend of suburban and rural life gives our riding its character — and it shapes the priorities our association cares about: affordability, safety, strong local infrastructure, support for small business and agriculture, and government that respects the people who pay for it.

Electing a Conservative MP in Carleton

Our central purpose is to help elect a Conservative Member of Parliament for Carleton. We do that by:

  • Building the team on the ground — recruiting and training the volunteers who knock on doors, make calls, deliver signs, and get out the vote.
  • Supporting our candidate — providing the local organization, resources, and energy a winning campaign depends on.
  • Connecting with residents — listening to the concerns of families, seniors, business owners, and rural communities across the riding, and carrying those priorities forward.
  • Raising the resources to compete — ensuring our campaigns have the funding to reach every voter in a riding as large and varied as ours.

When you get involved with the Carleton Conservative Association, you’re directly contributing to the effort to send a strong conservative voice to Ottawa to fight for the people of this riding.

What Is an EDA?

Our association is what’s formally known as an Electoral District Association, or EDA.

An EDA is the official, locally based arm of a political party within a single federal riding, registered with and recognized by Elections Canada. Every riding the party contests has one. While the national party sets the broader direction, the EDA is the grassroots organization that represents the party in the community day to day.

An EDA’s responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a local presence between elections, so the party is organized and ready well before the writ drops.
  • Growing membership and engaging supporters in the riding.
  • Fundraising at the local level, including issuing official tax receipts for eligible political contributions.
  • Nominating the party’s candidate for the riding through an open, democratic process.
  • Supporting the election campaign with volunteers, organization, and local resources.

In short, the EDA is where conservative supporters in Carleton come together between and during elections to keep the party strong and to win.
